Villa Kalypso is a two house complex facing the town of Skopelos from almost 300 meters above. It is a 4,5 kilometres uphill distance from the city’s centre, a ten minute drive, with the last 700 metres entering a stony country road high above, leading straight to the Villas. Please be advised that this road, although public, is a rather narrow track. While it’s not dangerous as such, some people might find it a bit challenging.

Once up on the hill, you will find the ideal destination if you appreciate peacefulness, tranquility and nature. The houses are self-catering; towels and bed linen are provided. House cleaning, towel- and linen-change is every fourth day and is a free service. If you wish for shorter intervals it can be organized with a charge for the additional cleaning. The minimum stay is five days.

As we’re not always on Skopelos, we have Petros, our friend and property manager, and Viktoria, our expert on cleanliness. Petro has worked the grounds for two decades, he knows every tree, every stone and appliance and is responsible for the maintenance of the houses. If the land is unattained, any building won’t last for long. So, Petros’ work and love for the place is vital.

Today the grounds are a feast for the eye. The place manages to offer every modern day amenity without losing its wild beauty. As you can see from the aerial pictures, the house on the left is Villa Kirki and the one on the right is Villa Kalypso. Above the two villas is a little shack (the „Kalivi“) that we use for ourselves if and when we’re there. Both houses are similar in structure and decoration. Downstairs there's the living room, kitchen and bathroom. Upstairs is the bedroom and a large veranda that gives you the bird’s eye view on Skopelos town shown in the photos. There is also a smaller veranda downstairs with the same view.

One big plus of the location is that it faces straight to the west. That means that the sun doesn’t hit the villas until noon as it’s hidden by the mountain behind the grounds. This is ideal for mild waking up as the summer sun can be quite strong. In the evening, the sun sets straight across from the houses, creating amazingly coloured sunsets.

Inside, the decoration is very light and highly adaptable giving the space a “fresh” and light-hearted feel. The villas are equipped with everything you may need. We want guests to feel as though they are spending their holiday in their own summer home. Apart from the obvious full kitchen facility (fridge, oven, hot plates, toaster, electric kettle, pots and pans, dishes, mugs, cutlery) the houses are equipped with cable TV, air condition, iron, hair dryer and wi-fi.

Smoking is allowed, small pets are allowed (although you have to check out with us first because we don't want our cat Cheeta chased by dogs - it might turn out to be a problem for the dog as she likes to protect "her" terrain. Please also note that the grounds are not perfect for small children. Playing and running up and down on the mountainous area may be somewhat hazardous for the little folks and while the verandas have railings, these railings are spacious and not designed to be children-safe. If in doubt, feel free to get in touch for more information.
